Terms of Use

Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using the Bean Butler mobile application ("App") or the beanbutler.app website ("Site"), operated by Bean Butler ("we", "us", or "our").
By downloading or using Bean Butler, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App or Site.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Bean Butler. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should have your parent or guardian's permission.
2. Your Account
You may use Bean Butler anonymously or sign in with a Google or Apple account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another user's account.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access or interact with the App.
- Submit content that is harmful, offensive, or infringes on third-party rights.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App or its services.
4. Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you create within Bean Butler — your shot logs, bean notes, and maintenance records are yours.
By using the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your data, sell it, or use it for advertising.
5. AI Features
Bean Butler includes AI-powered features ("Butler") that provide espresso-making suggestions. These suggestions are generated algorithmically based on your personal shot history and are for informational purposes only. They are not professional advice.
AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. Always use your own judgement when adjusting your espresso workflow. We are not responsible for outcomes resulting from following AI suggestions.
6. Intellectual Property
The Bean Butler name, logo, design, and all associated software are the intellectual property of Bean Butler. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use our trademarks, trade names, or branding without our prior written consent.
7. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services including Google Firebase, Google Gemini, Mistral AI, Apple Sign In, and the Apple App Store. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms of service. We are not responsible for the availability or conduct of third-party services.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Bean Butler is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bean Butler shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which may be zero for a free app).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bean Butler and its affiliates from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time and delete your account via Settings → Delete Account. We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at our discretion, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms.
On termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Sections 6, 8, 9, and 10 survive termination.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes within the App. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Bean Butler is operated, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
